Really Good Rum Balls (I coated them in chocolate instead of sprinkles)
Traditional Shortbread (Add 1 tbsp (15 ml ) grated orange rind to flour mixture, shape into logs and crescents, and decorate with melted chocolate)

In my early twenties I used to order it to go from a French pastry shop on my way to work.  It's light yet hearty and satisfies even meat and potato types. The sugar cookie  recipe is Martha's  and the icing is mine.  I used up the last of my vanilla sugar in the  cookies and although the recipe already requires vanilla extract the  extra vanilla only made them better.  The icing was colored with  blueberries. The purple color came from blueberries and once again I made butter icing using fruit instead of cream or milk.  The icing was a little less stable than the raspberry icing and would not do well on a very hot day.We also had a BBQ with mergez sausages, marinated lamb shoulder, shrimp and various salads.
